How do you determine fees?
Several factors are involved in determining the cost of a project. Because each project is different, an accurate proposal can only be developed after an extensive discussion and consultation with the client. During the conversation, the objectives, complexity, number of revisions and timeline will be discussed.
What is usage?
Graphic designers own the original work even if right of reproduction, or usage rights, are transferred. A magazine is granted the right to a set number of printed copies, for example, 10,000 printed pieces. The license we grant, unless otherwise specified in the proposal, is a one-time usage to use/reproduce the design. This does not extend to using the same design in websites or brochures, or even for a second printing of the magazine, without our approval.
Who owns the copyright?
A copyright is an exclusive legal right given to an originator to, in this case, print or publish material, and to authorize others to do the same. Therefore, nolesdesign owns the copyright for all of the work we create. Although another individual may retain the copyright for the photographs and copy, the copyright for the cohesive piece belongs to nolesdesign.
Can we have the files?
With the exception of corporate identities and specifically contracted template creation, our files are not given to the client.
